Patrick Schaefer & Bret Ward had attempted a series of unsuccessful comic book projects until they were approached in 1998 by interdimensional salesfox, Furilius Pitch, with the proposition of visualizing the dreams of Master Zen-Dao Meow.  At first Patrick and Bret were skeptical, having never worked for a cartoon character before.  But they finally decided that they had nothing to lose.  Master Zen-Dao Meow comic strips were first posted online in the summer of 1999 and the website officially launched that November.  In the spring of 2001, MZDM joined The Nice and the site evolved into a role-playing forum.  In addition to MZDM, Patrick Schaefer works as a script analyst at a motion picture studio and Bret is a freelance illustrator.  Both live in Southern California.  Furilius Pitch continues to scheme and figure out ways to make a buck off other people's dreams.
