Full Name: Dylar Dart Sarces Species: Fox, ordinary red Age: 22 Type: Student, Design and Architecture Quote: “Yeah, right.”
How much experience do you have with roleplaying? How much time have you spent on MUSHs/MUXs/etc.? Just about none whatsoever. I’ve read Tolkien, etc., and I’ve acted in plays but I haven’t done roleplaying before, except what I’m picking up here. Oh, and one very embarrassing attempt at Live RPG.
What does your character look like? Tall red Fox. Green-flecked yellow eyes. White fur from jaw to belly. Big tail with arrow-like black tip. Wears a gold medallion around his neck, usually tucked away under his shirt. Favourite clothing: Black jersey with white stripes running diagonally down from arms from both sides. Red and white shirt underneath. Black trousers.
What is your character's personality? Quiet and usually collected, though there are times when understanding is lost when things move too fast. Usually happy, though introspective times are sad times. Mean streak when provoked to anger outbursts, and jokes might not always be appreciated by Dylar or by the people whose leg he pulls.
What things does he like? Dislike? Likes it when things are clear-cut, when it’s obvious what one should do. Is a bit insecure when there’s no-one around to help in deciding what to do. Likes sports and stuff, especially when doing it with a group of people he knows. But quite happy doing things like reading and (computer) games alone. Dislikes haughty people or those who don’t care about his and others’ feelings.
What are the strong points of your character? Loyal, though reluctant to join sides against others. Quick to laugh if he likes the joke. Good with kids, except the ones that cry.
Weak points? If something is uninteresting, he won’t do a lot to help, except to get it over with. Trusting; he believes others are telling the truth, and acts on that assumed trustworthiness.
Name one thing your character would never do and why. Break rules. He’s got a strong compulsion to folow whatever is ordered.
How does he interact with others? Pleasantly, though he usually waits to figure out what another person is like, and thus might not seem the friendliest sort at first. Isn’t too ad-lib.
What are their abilities, hobbies, things they're good at? Weapon? Abilities: learned a defensive combat technique when young, but only keeps up what he knows, isn’t learning much new. Can run pretty fast, and is proud of it. Hobbies: likes to sport, but isn’t a fitness freak, and has learned not to push it all the way to win. Gravboarding is his firm favourite. Also likes quiet games with friends, though opportunities are usually few. Interested in history. Likes to read a lot of books. Tries to do some poetry now and then. Weapons: none.
Give an example description of your character. In the soft white moonlight the tents looked like a collection of curiously shaped graves. Silence now reigned among them, as nearly all had gone to sleep a while ago. Outside the camp a Fox sat on the top of the hill they were camping on. His red fur shimmered in the light as he gazed out over the plain where the grass was softly sighing in the wind. Behind him soft footfalls rustled through the grass towards him. Two Fox whose blue fur seemed almost silver in the moonlight dropped quietly into the grass on either side of him. He silently greeted each of them with looks to either side, then they silently stare out at the view in front of them. He liked the twins. It was Mara who spoke first. “What are you doing out here?” “Looking.” Siara took over. “Just looking?” Dylar spoke softly, as all three of them were doing. “Isn’t it a sight worth seeing?” The twins remained silent for a moment, then Siara spoke up. “There’s a lot more to you than just being a nice kid, sin’t there?” Dylar remained silent, the question hovering over him feeling heavy. “Yes,” he finally said. Siara continued. “You’re always so quiet. But you know a lot more than Reddick or Elany will ever get into their empty heads.” Mara took over. “You should speak up. Be more assertive!” Dylar hunched. “I know. It’s just that… I can’t. I’m not like that.” Siara again. “If you don’t speak up, you’ll only get shoved aside.” She said it gently, as gentle as they always were. The twins were always the best to be around in his class. Dylar sighed. “Thanks. I’ll try.” Mara shifted the conversation. “What are you looking at?” “The land, the moon, the stars, everything.” Siara laughed. “That’s not an answer! What do you see out there?” Dylar went thoughtful. The setting invited the mood. “My future.” He hesitated, then went on. “I want to go out there.” He pointed at the sky. “Into space.” Siara gasped softly. “You want to leave Cyantia? Go to other worlds?” “Yes.” It was spoken quietly, but the twins could hear the determination in that one word. “Where do you want to go?” Mara asked. “First to Mars Academy.” “That place? Why?” Both girls were astonished. “They’ve got my course. And it’s away from here, and out there.” “Oh. You want to go that badly?” “Not that badly, but I want to go there. Go where new things are happening.” Silently they sat together, companionably, watching the moon move across the heavens, now and then talking again.
Why is it essential that your character be here in the Mars Academy? When young he got the general impression from Fox culture that Wolves and the others weren’t good people. He got more skeptic about this as he grew up, but suspicion remained. When finally it was time to go to college he wanted to see more of the universe, and to get away from overbearing parents, and learned that Mars Academy had some of the better teachers in his subject matter. Though still suspicious about a place governed mostly by Wolves and Elites, he quickly found he liked it here and now lives happily in the Academy complex.
What are their qualifications? Nothing much except the promise to be a good student.
Traits useful to the future colony? His selected study – Design and Architecture – makes that he learns a lot about building things, and since most of the hands-on parts of the course take the building of the Academy as example, his knowledge of building things in new, as yet uninhabited environments could prove very helpful in future colonization.
Goals in being here? Study and seeing new things.
What is your characters nature and thoughts on others of his/her species? Is aware of the tensions his species’ history has created, and is also aware of the often warped perceprions this has led to on both sides, especially since he’s read history books of both sides. This has increased his natural scepticism and sarcasm, though he usually doesn’t vent these too soon, restricting himself to “Yeah, right.”.
What is his/her view on other species? A lingering distrust of Wolves and Elites remains, but he has found the variety of species at Mars Academy surprisingly friendly one and all, and doesn’t have a particular grudge against any specy.

And there's actually a couple of poems to go by the name. Decide for yourself if they're appropriate, I'm not gonna tell. My thanks and gratitude go to Redshirt and Lenisa.
Redshirt wrote: Poet's heart under the flame Cold unto the touch of friend. Soft, the eyes but look to the Game Stand tall and help all to the end.
Courage in face of dazzeled teeth Fear reigns not the into his sight Tempered by his fire-fur Come hither into our golden light
Lenisa wrote: He strokes your ego with such flare - A vulpine rhymer extraordinaire. That's not to say they're empty words - That kind of Grief is for the birds.
I'd say he has a heart of Gold, But that's no compliment I'm told. I'd say he has a Silver heart, But I'm sure its Rayne who has that part.
All that said, he's a gentle soul, Always kind and often droll. So what's it matter if he's a little kooky? If Dylar were normal, that would be Spooky!

We still post em to that particular thread so we don't leave Syke having to hunt the forum for new registrants... We want her doing comic stuff. (And I don't mean juggling frozen fish)
