From the depths of the archives, I have brought it forth!
It was on irc.sorcery.net, but was never very active and when I checked a moment ago, I was the only one there. However, I'm going to sit in the channel for now; I'd like to see it come back. Please come and check it out!

Go to www.mirc.com and download and install mIRC. When you run it, an "mIRC Options" dialog box will appear. There will be a dropdown menu labeled "IRC Network:", scroll down until you see the entry "Sorcery". This is irc.sorcery.net. The box below it should read "Sorcerynet: Random Server", which is what you want it to say.
Now, enter the information in the boxes at the bottom of the window (not necessarily truthfully, the information in the boxes besides "Nickname" will be publicly viewable by anyone.) "Full Name" is just that (mebbie character name), "E-mail Address" a duh as well, "Nickname" is what will appear by your messages in the chat. GG Might have his be "Graveyard_Greg", or he might have it as "Chromedome" or "Geekboy". They're not like AIM screen names; you can change them whenever you want. One thing, it has to be one word (use underscore for spaces). "Alternative" is a backup nickname, which will be used if what you put in "Nickname" is already taken. You shouldn't need to worry about any of the other panels.
Now, click the button marked "Connect to IRC Server." If you've done everything correctly, the "mIRC Options" window will dissapear, and the window already open will say something like "Connecting to irc.sorcery.net". Then a bunch of text will probably scroll by too fast to read. This is information from and about the server you've connected to, including the Message of the Day for the server. Feel free to read it.
Just a note: if you hit the Enter key instead of clicking the "Connect" button, the window will save your options and close without connecting. If that happens, click the button that looks like a lightning bolt in the upper-left corner. Clicking it again will disconnect. The button to its right (a hammer by a folder) will bring the options dialog back up.
Once you're ready, click the cursor in the box at the bottom of the open window (the Server window) and type either "/j GamingGuardians" or "/join #GamingGuardians" (no quotes on either). IRC room names are marked by a pound/hash/whatever sign in front of them, so if you made a room named "Foo", it would really be "#Foo". The "/join" command is a standard IRC command, the "/j" command has been defined by mIRC to mean "/join #". What this means to the new user is that they only have to type "/j GamingGuardians". When you do this, a new window will open up. On the right will be a list of everyone in the room (room operators have a '@' at the start of their names, other signs have different meanings), on the bottom is where you enter and edit text before posting, and in the middle is (duh) where the text comes out .
That should be enough to get someone connected to the Gaming Guardians room, later (read: tomorrow-ish) I'll post some more info for those who want it.

Yep, I'm part of the B&G community... that's the only room I'm in on that server, actually, aside from personal RP rooms branching off from it.
For Nightstar? That's the home of #crfh, which is still growing. (College Roomies from Hell, for those of you whom don't know about it.) I've actually been addicting people from there to dear old Greg's comic over the last few days, and by pure coincidence, one had asked me just 4 hours before this thread appeared if there was an IRC channel or not... as Ron said for Peacefulhaven, I also know quite a few of the IRCops for Nightstar if anyone's interested.

Is Peacefulhaven stable? I mean, I remember the old Dorksnet servers... MY GOD... that was unholy. I even set up a fallback room on the TAU server for the Fight Club people to regroup at whenever the servers horfed.
Say, if ya ever see Kalifla, or JebusNassedar, or Wing35, tell em Killfrenzy says "Hi."

I will note (the roundabout way, since m6y comp here at work is quite slow) that if you go to http://www.sorcery.net/, the IRC network's main website, and from there to the website of the SorceryNet server that starts with an I, run by Onno (blasted memory), there is both a web-based and Java chat applet there. I believe the server's Scandinavian, and I've not tested it, but they might work for some of ya.

Alright... looks like Sorcery.net was just having an off night. Haven't had any major issues over the last couple of days, and I got the channel registered, so we're in good shape
Feel free to drop on in! Kind of small/quiet/slow now, but we built it, so hopefully you will come!

Durayle, would you be able to tell me where to get the source/binaries for that java client? I'm trying to preach the wonders of IRC to the MZDM community, who are still heavily tied to the AIM client, since it's "easier."
*chuckle* One part of the strategy, but a useful one.
The Sorcery.Net severs have been on the receiving end of numerous packet kiddie attacks recently. Today, Valinor, Shire, and astral.hub went down, in that order.
They are dealing with the issue, and their servers do seem to recover quickly, not to mention the IRCops are now in contact with the FBI.
HOWEVER.
Though they are rather quick to recover from the attacks, this is still very disruptive. As such, I have reopened the regroup channel #FallBack on the server irc.tauniverse.com (irc.gnug.org) in the event of another mass channel depopulation.

There is now a GamingGuardians radio station, Radio Free Outpost! I am using shoutcast to broadcast over the net; if you want to listen, please stop by the channel. I'm only posting the url there due to bandwidth issues.

More information on the IRC channels since the main page link is very obviously there now:
Unfortunately, Radio Free Outpost got shut down by my sysadmins.
On the other hand, there are more channels associated with GamingGuardians, so good news comes with the bad. Here's the rundown on how the channels are set up:
#GamingGuardians -Main Channel -Mostly Out Of Character, sometimes goes In Character for fun -Site of Q&A's with Greg and the occasional sneak peak of a future comic! -Ops: Gorbash_Kazdar (aka Varakyn, Razer, Comrade_Gorby; main op), Wirrit, Killfrenzy (aka Attrition), CaleArin, Graveyard Greg (when he's in) and Wargolem -Official Baka User: Lans
#GGArena -Channel for RPing battles between characters -Usually IC, but goes OOC for discussions about fights -Ops: Killfrenzy (main op), Gorbash_Kazdar, Wirrit, Wargolem
#GGLounge -Roleplaying Channel -Always IC -Both general RP interactions and administered RPs -Ops: Wirrit (main op), Feina, ThoththeGray
"Then there was Feina, an elementalist...a real fox if you get my meaning..." -Wargolem
